New edition of the
Luxembourg Art Prize
€35,000 in prize money for 2025!
The Luxembourg Art Prize is an annual international artistic prize organized by the Pinacothèque, a private museum located in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Every year the Prize aims to discover talents, amateur or professional, regardless of age and nationality.
Since it was created in 2015, the Luxembourg Art Prize aims to launch or boost the careers of artists at the international level by giving them a sound reference to add to their curriculum vitae.
Each year, 24 finalists are selected by the museum and 3 laureates are designated by an independent jury. The prize money is broken down as follows: €20,000 for 1st place, €10,000 for 2nd place, and €5,000 for 3rd place. The laureates are free to use this money however they please.
The museum also issues official certificates to acknowledge the artistic achievements of all the participants, even if they are not selected as finalists. This certificate is issued in 9 different languages, providing the artists with international prestige and recognition.
The Prize is aimed at artists working in one or more of the following media: drawing, printing, installation, painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, decorative art (textiles and material, glass, wood, metal, ceramics, mosaic, paper or other techniques).
New from the 2020 edition
In recognition of the fact that completing the application file is an important and sometimes difficult step, the museum would like to reward artists who make the effort. Therefore, all artists who completed their application file will receive a certificate from the Luxembourg Art Prize issued by the museum.

Designation of finalists
In October, the artistic committee of the Pinacothèque Museum meets to review the applications that have been received. The committee selects 8 finalists from each group, or a total of 24 artists. On November 1, the names of the finalists are revealed on the website.
Selection of the winners
In November, the independent jury reviews the applications of the 24 finalists. The jury then selects 3 laureates from the field of finalists. On December 1, the names of these laureates are revealed on the website. The jury designates the 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place winners. The 1st place winner is awarded €20,000, the 2nd place winner €10,000, and the 3rd place winner €5,000. In December, this money is wired to the bank accounts of the winners. The laureates can use their prize money however they please.
Official certificate
The Museum issues a certificate of artistic merit for the year of participation to all artists who distinguished themselves from a qualitative perspective, whether or not they are finalists.
Your official certificate will be available on December 1st, after the winners have been chosen.
The objective of the certificate is to provide official recognition from the Museum to artist participants whose merit and artistic talent have been specifically noted.
